Complete VFC/DBoys AKS-74 Takedown Guide

Dragon M.'s VFC/DBoys AKS-74 Takedown Guide
Format Stolen from Xhado Without Permission

Hopefully I have covered everything that is needed to know about VFC and Dboys AKS-74 replicas.

Please note that this realistic assembly is only available through VFC and DBoys AK. Tokyo Marui and Tokyo Marui based AKs do not get this lovely form of disassembly.

Stock removal is different depending on each version therefore making it excluded from the guide. The AKS-74UN has a different disassembly, but there still might be some resemblance. However, do not expect this guide to guide you through the AKS-74UN completely.

Throughout this guide I will be covering:

Gearbox Removal
I will be using my DBoys Kalash RK-02 AKS-74.

First, make sure your gun is in the lovely safety position. Also make sure your gun's magazine is out and there are no BBs in the chamber.

Remove the receiver cover by pressing the button and lifting the cover.

Met with this, make sure you remove your battery and that it not connected. Before doing this, shoot the gun twice in semi to release any tension the gun may have.

After what said is done, move down to the pistol grip and remove the Phillips screw.

Pull off the pistol grip. You are now met with the following:

After, get some pliers and grab the selector switch axle like so. Twist it in a counter clockwise direction and loosen it just enough to unscrew it with your hands.

You are then met with a little nut after the switch and screw have been removed. Take note of how these are put in and remove those as well.

After that is done, remove your receiver release button. To do this, push down on it, and move it up. Remove the spring attached to it as well.

Next, you must remove the bolt. To remove the bolt, pull it all the way back and then up.

Then, you should remove the hop-up stabilizer. Use your hand and remove the spacer. It may take some force.

After the stabilizer is removed, you are free to pull back the hop-up. Do it.

You gearbox is now free of any force from stopping it from being removed. Just simply push it up from the body.

You are now down. Here is the right side of the gearbox:

This is the left side of the gearbox:

Inner/Outer Barrel Removal

Remove the flash hider by holding down the stopper and spinning the flash hider.

You are left with a brass barrel.

Next, remove the cleaning rod from the gun. Where it's supposed to be is highlighted in red but the actual rod is in blue.

Afterwards, pull the lever by the hand guards up.

You are then free to remove the upper hand guard by just pulling up.

To remove the lower hand guard, pull the lever in the lower hand guard.

Pull the lower hand guard stabilizer away as well as the lower hand guard.

Next off, knock out the pin under the front sight. This is the smaller pin. This will take some force and patience. However, do not forcefully remove it as that may break your gun.

Then, remove the larger pin. This is much harder than the smaller pin. Remember not to forcefully remove it and take your time.

After that, you are free to remove the barrel. Pull it out while slightly twisting and turning.

After the outer barrel is removed, you're free to remove the hop-up and barrel. Pull it all the way back, and then up.

Hopup Disassembly

We are now going to disassemble the hop-up.

Remove these two screws to remove the hop-up "stabilizer."

Remove the barrel clip first. Then remove the little round spacer.

After that, you are freely able to remove the the barrel.

Remove this screw highlighted in red:

Remove the other screw highlighted in red:

Knock out this pin.

Softly pry out your strike chamber and nub.

You're done!
